SART: Historic Preservation In Atlanta

Despite Atlanta’s rich history, from the civil war to civil rights or from train junction to Olympics destination, Atlantans struggle to celebrate that history in our buildings. Atlanta development has followed the unfortunate pattern of tearing down gems of our city and country’s history when refurbishing or re-developing is deemed inconvenient. Many in the new urbanist and urban sustainability community lament this pattern, and hope that we can encourage new behaviors in town to celebrate our history to foster an identity of Atlanta steeped in the culture and tradition of this place’s evolution over centuries.

Join experts in historic preservation and redevelopment to discuss the opportunities Atlanta faces to make our city look as rich and storied in history as it is.
