Please join Georgia WAND's for this year's Mother's Day for Peace!
MD4P is GA WAND's premier fundraising gala in which we inspire activism, educate members about our issues, and celebrate those among us whose bold efforts have brought us closer to a just, peace-filled world.
This year's event will feature Mustafa Ali and Alex Toma in a dialogue examination of the façade of “safety and security” in order to ground a 21st century vision of peace and justice in the U.S. South.
MUSTAFA ALI is the Senior Vice President of Climate, Environmental Justice & Community Revitalization at Hip Hop Caucus, a civil and human rights organization that links culture, communities, celebrities, and politics for positive change. For the past 17 years, Mustafa has worked with communities on both the domestic and international front to secure environmental, health and economic justice.
Prior to joining the Hip Hop Caucus he served as the Environmental Justice Senior Advisor to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. He was the Designated Federal Official for A Workgroup on Nationally Consistent EJ Screening Approaches of the National Environmental Justice Advisory Council (NEJAC), a federal advisory committee to the U.S. EPA.

ALEX TOMA is the Executive Director of Peace and Security Funders Group, a network of public, private, and family foundations and individual philanthropists who make grants or expenditures that contribute to peace and global security. Alex has over fifteen years of experience working at senior levels of politics, government, advocacy, and philanthropic organizations.
Prior to joining PSFG in 2013, Alex was Executive Director at Connect U.S. Fund and a Director at the Ploughshares Fund, where she founded the Fissile Materials Working Group, a coalition of 80 international NGO partners working to expand action-oriented policy to combat nuclear terrorism. Before her nonprofit experience, Alex served as a foreign policy and defense advisor to Congressman Stephen F. Lynch of Massachusetts.
